Game name: Feed Fribbit COLOURS

Suitable for : 4-6 years old

Concepts : Mathematics

Instructions: Fribbit the frog is hungry, and wants to eat flies. Help Fribbit to catch flies. But Fribbit want a specific colour for every stage. The flies will pass by. Click it to "eat" the flies. If you got it wrong, Fribbit will tell you why, where the colours could have been wrong. But do watch out for mean crocodiles at a certain level! Dodge the crocodile by hitting the spacebar.

Difficulty level can be chosen! But just stick with Little Kids, it is rather challenging!

Why Play?

The colours are very attractive, and the moving flies coming out from the side are of random colours. This gets the children to pay attention to their screen as they would not want to miss out on any of the flies they have to catch. Children gets to learn the basic concept of the colours where they clearly stated at the top right hand corner the colour of the flies to be catched. They also indicate the goal for children to reach, at the top right hand corner.
There are music while you play the game, so this will really interest your children to work hard and catch those flies for Fribbit!

Parents can also help their child to spot the flies, or the menacing crocodiles that will cost Fribbit's life. During game play, there could also be parent-child interaction where they help each other to complete the level. In this case, the parent could be the one catching, and the child could be the one spotting the flies! Why not?

Not to forget, Fribbit give three chances to a wrong fly, so do watch out!
And spotting the dragonfly gives extra bonus!

I RATE:
4/5

This site does not provide much feedbacks to the children, so make sure parents out there, do praise your child when they complete a level!

Game name : Starts With?

Suitable for : 4 - 6 years old.

Concept: Language

Instructions: This game requires you to click on the letter that the spelling of the picture starts with. 4 letters will be shown at once. If you get it wrong, it will show the correct letter to you. But if you get it right? you get lots and lots of points! Nonetheless, you're still a winner at the end!

Why play?
The game itself is filled with colours and pictures that are picked randomly to test the children. Even the buttons containing the letters are coloured! This game is simple, to children who have a wider vocabulary. Simple yet clear pictures are put up for and it allows a child to know what it is at a glance. The rules are as so, that they are clearly stated right at the beginning. If you are not clear about it during the game play, you can always click the "?" button which is beside the speaker button at the top right hand corner.

"My children always get it incorrect!"
Well, why don't you play with your child then?
Parents could provide support to the child by telling them the names of the picture, and get the child to figure out the starting letter! It's the basic step to learning phonics as well!
You could also add in background knowledge of your understanding to the picture, as above the owl, it is a noctunal animal which sleeps in the morning and hunt at night.
Along the way, you could have been increasing your child's word bank!

I RATE:
4/5

This game will benefit children if there is another guardian supports his/her learning.

The Visual-Auditory-Kinesthetic learning styles model, in short VAK, provides a simple way to explain and understand one's learning style (and learning styles of others).

The
VAK learning style , rather self explanatory, means using the three main sensory receivers: Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic to determine the one's dominant learning style.

It is sometimes known as
VAKT (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, & Tactile).

It is based on modalities -- a channel by which human expression can take place and is composed of a combination of perception and memory.

VAK is derived from the accelerated learning world and seems to be about the most popular model nowadays due to its simplicity, however, its main weakness is that the research does not support it. This is probably because it is more of a preference, rather than a style.

Visual learning style involves the use of seen or observed things, including pictures, diagrams, demonstrations, displays, handouts, films, flip-chart, etc.

Visual learners have two sub-channels - linguistic and spatial. Learners who are visual-linguistic like to learn through written language, such as reading and writing tasks. They remember what has been written down, even if they do not read it more than once. They like to write down directions and pay better attention to lectures if they watch them. Learners who are visual-spatial usually have difficulty with the written language and do better with charts, demonstrations, videos, and other visual materials. They easily visualize faces and places by using their imagination and seldom get lost in new surroundings.

Auditory learning style involves the transfer of information through listening: to the spoken word, of self or others, of sounds and noises.

Auditory learners often talk to themselves. They also may move their lips and read out loud. They may have difficulty with reading and writing tasks. They often do better talking to a colleague or a tape recorder and hearing what was said.

Kinesthetic learning involves physical experience - touching, feeling, holding, doing, practical hands-on experiences.

Kinesthetic learners do best while touching and moving. It also has two sub-channels: kinesthetic (movement) and tactile (touch). They tend to lose concentration if there is little or no external stimulation or movement. When listening to lectures they may want to take notes for the sake of moving their hands. When reading, they like to scan the material first, and then focus in on the details (get the big picture first). They typically use color highlighters and take notes by drawing pictures, diagrams, or doodling.

Examples of
Visual learning style which can be assessed:
1) when operating new equipment for the first time I prefer to read the instructions
2) when cooking a new dish I follow a recipe
3) to teach someone something I write down instructions
4) to learn a new skill, I watch what the teacher is doing
5) I remember things best by writing notes or keeping printed details

Examples of Auditory learning style which can be assessed:
1) when operating new equipment for the first time I prefer to listen to or ask for an explanation
2) when seeking travel directions I'll ask for spoken directions
3) to teach someone something I usually explain verbally
4) to learn a new skill, I talk through with the teacher exactly what I am supposed to do
5) I remember things best by saying them aloud or repeating words and key points in my head

Examples of Kinesthetic learning style which can be assessed:
1) when operating new equipment for the first time, I prefer to have a go and learn by 'trial and error'
2) when cooking a new dish I follow my instinct, tasting as I cook
3) to teach someone something I demonstrate and let them have a go
4) to learn a new skill, I like to give it a try and work it out as I go along by doing it
5) I remember things best by doing and practicing the activity, or imagining it being done
